About the Director
Lois Eannel moved to Florida in 1999. She is originally from New York, where she had two successful careers, as an elementary school teacher and children’s librarian. When Lois became Head of Youth Services at Palm Harbor Library, she brought with her some innovative ideas and a philosophy of family-centered libraries. She created the Early Childhood Corner in the Children’s Room of the library, established a circulating collection of adaptive toys for children with special needs, and implemented First Steps, a series of parent/child workshops. Other projects included the Dr. Teddy Hospital Kits and the STEAM kits for elementary and middle school students. In addition to her duties as Head of Youth Services, Lois was also the Assistant Director of Palm Harbor Library from 2002 to 2013.
Lois has an undergraduate degree in elementary education and psychology from Hofstra University, a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Library Science Degree from Long Island University.
Lois became the Director of East Lake Community Library in September of 2013 and has worked to expand hours, programs, services, and outreach to the families who patronize this library.
