
Book Donations
East Lake Community Library appreciates the donation of useful materials that meet the criteria applied to purchased materials and are given without restriction or obligation. The Library reserves the right to determine the final disposition of all donated materials.

The Library cannot return donated materials.

The Library cannot appraise gifts for tax or inheritance purposes; however, a materials donation form is available if desired.

The Library cannot accept materials that are wet, moldy, bug-infested, dirty, chewed, or otherwise damaged.
Donations can be made at any time by utilizing the donation drop on the south side of the Library. For larger boxed donations, please contact the Library to schedule a drop-off time. Donations should not be placed in the regular book return drops.
Selection Criteria
Materials accepted by the Library are selected to support the collection or the Friends of the Library fundraising efforts and are chosen based on condition, relevance, community interest or resale potential. Materials may include, but are not limited to the following:

Adult Fiction books published within the last 15 years, some older materials based on condition and popularity of the author.

Adult Large Print materials.

Adult Nonfiction materials:

Books on crafting, home repairs, and decorating, less than 10 years old

Books on science, health, medicine, world commentary, politics, laws, economics, business, computers, travel guides, and memoirs, less than 5 years old.

Books on test preparation, such as the GED, ACT, AP courses, or LSAT, less than 5 years old.

Books on history, conflicts, cookbooks, classics, large coffee-table books, animals, sheet music, and religious, of any age, based on condition and relevance.

Magazines less than 1 year old

Children’s books based on condition and relevance.

AV Materials including audio books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and records based on condition and relevance.

Puzzles, games, flashcards, based on condition and relevance.

Rare collectibles or other gift items based on condition and validity.

Unique books, vintage materials based on condition.

Jewelry and other “bling” based on condition.
Final Disposition
Materials that cannot be utilized within the Library may be sold in bulk, donated to third-party organizations, or otherwise disposed of at the Library’s discretion.
